Frequently asked questions

Adobe, photography, speaking and hiring me.

What does a product manager at Adobe do?

I work with photographers and designers to understand how they edit, then work with engineering to decide what we build next. My products are Photoshop and Lightroom. More and more of the job is deciding how AI features show up in them. I also speak at events and talk with the community.

How do I get started with Photoshop or Lightroom?

In Photoshop, start with layers and masks. They let you edit without touching the original pixels. In Lightroom, learn how to organize your photos and edit them in the Develop module. Work on your own photos from day one. Adobe's Help Center has good getting-started guides for both.

What camera do you use?

It depends on the trip. Sometimes a full-frame mirrorless camera, sometimes just my phone. I edit everything in Lightroom. Examples are in the gallery.

Can you speak at my event or conference?

Yes. I speak at design conferences and run workshops and team sessions on creative workflows, AI agents and assistants, Adobe products and product management. Topics and recorded talks are on the speaking page. To book me, email the event, the date and your audience.

Where can I find your writing?

My articles and tutorials on information architecture, prototyping and UX design are on the Writing page. They were published on Adobe.com, Adobe XD Ideas and Medium. Recorded talks are on the speaking page.

Can I hire you?

Yes, for web design and build, photography, and team workshops. The Work with me page has the details. To start, email me a few lines at matt@mattrae.ca.

How can I contact you?

Email is best: matt@mattrae.ca. I'm also on LinkedIn. For a speaking invite, include the event details. For a project, tell me what you need and roughly when.
